Respiratory FAQs 

What are the most common respiratory diseases? 

The two most common respiratory diseases in the United States are COPD and asthma. But along side of these two diseases, some of the other common respiratory diseases include:  

  • Cystic fibrosis  
  • Lung cancer  
  • Tuberculosis 
  • Bronchitis 
  • Pneumonia 
  • Emphysema 

What product is most important to have if you have a respiratory disease? 

The main concern when you have a respiratory disease is that you are able to breathe without struggling. The product to help with that can vary based on your kind of illness, the severity, the duration etc. Contact your doctor or RT to help you if you have or think you may have a respiratory disease.  

How can life at home with a respiratory illness or disease be more comfortable? 

Comfort is such a huge priority, especially when you’re suffering with respiratory issues. Here are a few tips on how to be more comfortable at home:  

  • Drink plenty of water: Water helps loosen mucus trapped in your lungs and can help you breathe better.  
  • Build a caddy: Keeping a caddy containing your necessities near your bed or chair can prevent the need to constantly get up and down, especially when breathing becomes challenging. 
  • Have a caregiver or RT close by: Keeping someone close by in case you run into an issue can help keep your independence but also keep you safe if an emergency arises.  

What are risk factors for respiratory diseases? 

While some respiratory diseases are unavoidable or may be hereditary, there are some traits that put you at higher risk of developing a respiratory disease. These include but are not limited to:  

  • Tobacco smoking 
  • Second hand smoke  
  • Air pollution  
  • Chemical exposure  
  • Asthma  
  • Family history  

How does an Afflovest work? 

AffloVest is designed to mimic the gold standard CPT by utilizing 8 oscillating motors that are anatomically positioned to create personalized therapy. This therapy includes pressure waveforms that target all lobes of the lungs, both anteriorly and posteriorly, to help loosen, thin, and mobilize lung secretions for each patient.
